Life Insurance
Full time members and Sessional Lecturers are provided with Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance through their employment. Sun Life Assurance is the insurance provider through a group plan at the University.
The Plan’s coverage for members is equal to three (3) times a member’s Normal Salary to a maximum of four hundred thousand dollars ($400,000).
The Accidental Death and Dismemberment Plan’s coverage for members is three (3) times her/his Normal Salary to a maximum of four hundred thousand dollars ($400,000).
Insurance coverage remains the same for those who are continuing employment past age 65 years. The Group Life Insurance and Accidental Death/Dismemberment benefit is found under Article H of the Collective Agreement.
Optional Life, Dependent Life and A.D.& D. - Employees can opt to choose additional life insurance, dependent life and A.D. & D. coverage at their own expense. WUFA STRONGLY ENCOURAGES MEMBERS TO TAKE THIS ADDITIONAL INSURANCE FOR THEIR PARTNER OR DEPENDENTS which is a minimal payment off each pay cheque.
