GR# 1008 - Failure to Implement the Human Rights Policy

Nature of Dispute: The University has consistently failed to implement the Human Rights Policy with respect to WUFA members, both in general terms as laid out in the policy itself, and in individual instances.
Result of Grievance: The grievance was withdrawn by WUFA, without prejudice, on November 16, 2021. The University updated the Human Rights Policy on June 22, 2021, and in 2021 bargaining the parties agreed that the revised Policy is a fluid document that it will be reviewed as part of the EDI review on campus. Part of this review will include the timely consultation with WUFA and other stakeholders. There is a commitment from the University that the findings of the EDI review will be acted upon in a timely manner.
