National Day of Mourning on April 28th and May Day (known as International Workers' Day) on May 1st.

WUFA Supports National Day of Action and May Day
Greetings,
TAKE ACTION on DAY OF MOURNING and MAY DAY

Two very important days for labour are coming up this week, the National Day of Mourning on April 28th and May Day (known as International Workers' Day) on May 1st.

It is imperative that labour, community, and our allies join together and use our collective power to send a message to Doug Ford and the PC government that we demand a future where workers are prioritized over greed.

Workers in this province are still getting sick, injured, or dying thanks to inadequate laws that fail to properly protect Ontario residents – particularly as the pandemic continues to impact workers across the province. Ford has failed us, time and time again.

Nobody should have to choose between putting their life – and the lives of their coworkers – in danger or putting food on the table, and we can make sure that nobody does have to.

Join us in calling on our provincial leaders to immediately:

  • Legislate permanent paid sick days for all workers
  • Provide the highest quality and amount of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to all workers
  • Vaccinate equitably and strategically, starting with frontline workers and impacted communities
  • Ensure all workers are covered by the workers’ compensation system
  • Legislate and enforce preventative training standards

Let’s send a loud and clear message to Doug Ford and the PC’s that they need to do their job, so workers don’t die doing theirs!

Despite the limitations due to the pandemic lockdown and physical distancing requirements, there are still several ways for you to participate in these days of action:
